IRS Clarification Regarding Deferral of Employment Tax Deposits

Under the Cares Act, Employers are provided the ability to defer the deposit and payment of the employer’s share of social security tax payments that were otherwise required to be made from March 27, 2020 through December 31, 2020. Fifty percent of the taxes are due by December 31, 2021 and the remaining fifty percent are due by December 31, 2022.
